Bridget Riley

An Artist who is one of Britain's best known artist and who's work I consider to be very inspirational is Bridget Riley.

Bridget Riley is an English painter who is one of the foremost proponents of Op Art.

As evident from her collection of artwork, her work expresses a great variety of geometric forms that produce sensations to the viewer of movement, even though the pieces are physically still.

What I admire most about her work is that it is highly distinctive and the end products of Artwork always engage you in and allow you to feel various sensations. 

Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol, born August 6, 1928, is considered an inspiring artist to me due to his unique and recognizable artwork. Andy Warhol is widely known for his exploration of Pop art, mass producing images of mass produced objects.

The image above is Warhols most famous depicted Campbell's soup cans. What i love about this piece, is that Warhol turned something so boring and normal into something rather fun and interesting. 

Warhol experimented using various media. He developed with film, sculpture, silkscreen and paint.

Warhols art has inspired many designs and most people would recognize his work due to him becoming a international pop art icon.

Ryan Mcginnes is an extremely exciting artist. What i love mostly about his work, is his versatility and diverse approach to art. 

As evident from the above examples, his work varies from using different mediums and materials. I am fascinated by this stencil-like art work due to the boldness and simplicity of it. 

His ideas are quite unique, for example his use of buttons to make a dress, where each button has been designed individually using ink on paper.

Adhemas Batista

Adhemas Batista is a 26 year old graphic designer and illustrator who is based in Sao Paulo Brazil. Impressively, Adhemas opened his first ever agency at the young age of 19 years old. He has had an outstanding career so far, working with major brands such as Havaianas, Coca cola, Toyota, Kiss fm and many more.( http://www.adhemas.com/).

I love the vibrance and energy of his work. Its colourful, lively and unique. His curvy illustrations create movement and leave your eyes following all the twists and turns. 

Barbara Kruger

Barbara Kruger has had a huge impact on me and my work. Barbara Kruger is known for her black and white photographic imagery which has layered declarative typographic captions set over the top of the image. The type face normally used is Futura Bold Oblique.

I first discovered Barbara Kruger when i was doing my GCSE's and since then her unique style and approach to her work has influenced me greatly. Her work shows how powerful the mixture of imagery and type can be, and how tone can transform a piece dramatically.

I also love the choice of using black, red and white for the majority of her work. These colours are bold and aggressive and really project out the message of the pieces.

Barbara Kruger has also done some exhibition work. As you can see above she doesn't always use imagery, and sometimes only uses copy for her work. This is an example where copy and great typography on its own can be just as effective and impactive as to when image and copy are both used together.

The first image shown here is another example where Barbara Kruger uses copywriting effectively on its own. This design is Barbara Krugers latest work of collaborating her work with British department store Selfridges, where she has began exploring her artwork into the advertising world. Through simple but clever copywriting and excellent use of colour, this piece is a example of effective advertising.

Banksy

Banksy is known as a pseudo- anonymous British graffiti artist. He transforms miserable, dull walls into pieces of art to be noticed and admired. Some people love his work and others hate it and associate it as a act of vandalism. I think Banksys stencil graffiti is definitely artwork, i love the humour of his pieces and i like the way he works around objects and situations to make the art more suitable. This is evident in the picture above, where there is a water stain on the wall and Banksy has turned it into a urine stain which has appeared due to the guard urinating on the wall.

Kurt Wenner

Kurt Wenner is a three dimensional street painter. Inspired by anamorphism, Wenner has been able to develop a new artistic approach by creating a new way of painting to give depth to the horizontal surface of the street. 

The image shown above is Kurt Wenners latest three dimensional piece which took him four days to create using chalk and pastels. The millions of pounds spilling out of the vault on the wall of the open space at London Waterloo station stopped many commuters, who were convinced and intrigued by the three dimensional illusion.  

I think Kurt Wenners approach to street painting is fascinating. His work really does create the illusion of three dimensional depth along the open space he works on. His work is extremely realistic and eye-catching and works well in the situation where he performs his art on. His work looks even more impressive when viewed through 3D glasses.
